 Club Welfare

Club Welfare Officer

As part of the FA`s Respect Campaign, the Northumberland FA states that with effect from the start of the 2008 /2009 season, all affiliated clubs must appoint a Club Welfare Officer. The role of the Club Welfare Officer (CWO) is to act as a point of contact for all club members (staff, parents, children, volunteers, spectators) who may have concerns about child abuse, bullying and/or poor practice, and dealing with these in a mature and confidential manner. The Club Welfare Officer will promote best practice throughout the club and play a key role in dealing with any concerns in line with the club's own disciplinary process. Matters that are of a more concerning nature are to be passed on to the County Welfare Officer at the NFA.

In line with the above, the club have brought onboard Carol Stephenson to take on the role of the CWO. As part of her new role, Carol has recently attended a Safeguarding Children's Course & also a Welfare Officer's Workshop at the Northumberland FA. She will also take a seat on the clubs Management Committee, ensuring safeguarding children and Respect are on the agenda at Committee meetings.

Should you need to contact Carol with any concerns, her details can be found on the "Club Officials" page of the website.

May we also remind everyone that the club already has a Child Protection Policy & Code of Conduct in place which is made available to all members when joining the club.
If needed these can be viewed and downloaded from the "Club Documents" page of the website.
